Hello VA!

Beach trail by our home
As mentioned in our previous post, we have uprooted our Japanese home and have moved back to the states, closer to home. We chose to settle in Virginia Beach, VA, within walking distance of the beach! We have a 3 bedroom apartment in a very pet-friendly neighborhood, and the outstanding evening sunsets are perfectly framed by our kitchen window.
Jonathan was able to pick up another tuba gig and continue his musicianship, and also his mother has moved in with us due to health reasons. I am currently working on my art and toying with writing ideas in hopes of starting my own illustration business. Lots of prepping and planning in the works!
We are eager to explore our new area more. We've been here several times in the past for vacation, but this is our first time living here. So far we love it. Everyone is very nice, and most businesses are dog-friendly! Even many bakeries and restaurants! Not looking forward to seeing how hurricane season plays out, but we can't wait for warmer weather. Not only are we within walking distance of the beach, but also First Landing State Park! Lots of hiking trails to explore this summer!
Fresh new year, new home, new adventures!

We Shall Meet Again!

Sorry for the huge lapse in posts! Over the past 2 months we've been busy moving literally around the world! Our time in Japan was absolutely wonderful and we plan on visiting as often as we can throughout our lives. Due to certain life circumstances, we felt it was best to move closer to home. We lived it up a bit during our last few months in Japan, and one of the last things we did was dress in kimono and walk the streets of Kamakura! We enjoyed spending time with friends, eating all of our favorite foods (7-11, we miss you!!), and just taking everything in and treasuring every moment.
We will always miss Japan, but thankfully we can always visit, and we have addresses of people we care for so we can keep in touch and send special gifts back and forth. It's not sayonara, it's until next time!
