Ayutthaya Ruins

The ancient ruins of Ayutthaya in Thailand. This city was founded in the early 1300s and was the country's capital until 1767 when the Burmese invaded and demolished everything. In its prime, Ayutthaya was the biggest trading hub in the eastern hemisphere and in the late 1600s it was the largest city in the world with over 1 million inhabitants. Today the ruins are a UNESCO World Heritage site. This area was so amazing to see. We took a train through the country and a ferry across a river to get there. Ancient sites and wild nature are my top favorite things to explore in different parts of the world.
